Sweeney Sketches

I've always had friends telling me about Sweeney Todd and how fantastic it was, and how I should go see it if I ever get the chance. And now there's a Tim Burton version of it out. So I had to go rent out a previous version first. One in the shop was a BBC series or something, and looked like it took the whole thing too seriously, so I left that alone. But low and behold, there was a version with Angela Lansbury. So much love for her.

I don't know who the guy that was playing Sweeney Todd is, but his neck fat was so much fun to draw, I fucking swear, I could draw it all day. Angela's soft shoeing through every other number had me in stitches.

And because the way the characters looked in that version was more or less the way I've always pictured them, just from hearing about the play from others...

I have to roll my eyes at the prettification that Sweeney and Lovett got in the Burton Flick. They got turned into the goth versions of hollywood hotties.

I love goth. I love hot goths. It just seems weird to impose them where they didn't exist before. Actually, yes and no. My idea of hot usually doesn't coincide with most people's idea of hot, so scratch that.

Oh well. Besides that, the new movie still looks really cool. I need to go see it before the slash that came from 'OMG DEPP AND RICKMAN ARE IN THE SAME MOVIE' ruin it for me. Not to mention the goth fairy fanart versions of Lovett that ignore that Carter was at least given some wrinkles in the movie, from what I've seen anyway.

I need to buy a copy of the Angela version too, that thing was fucking awesome.

Note of the Obvious - I can rant about some pretty stupid, trivial things.

Oh, and I don't own these characters. I have no idea who does.
